The Man Who Caught Jeter’s 3,000th Hit
Much like the 23-year-old mobile phone salesman Christian Lopez I think I would have just given Derek Jeter his Hall of Fame ball back and ask nothing in return. A very honorable Christian Lopez said, “Mr. Jeter deserved it. I’m not gonna take it away from him…It was never about the money, it was about the milestone.”
His dad, Raul Lopez, who was at the game with his son said something a little more interesting, and, well, disturbing, about his son’s honorable notion. “That’s who he is,” Raul Lopez said. “My son could get a million dollars and he’d shrug his shoulders. He’d see a dog get hit by a car and he’d shrug his shoulders. It’s no big deal for him. He’s very cool and calm about everything.”
“He’d see a dog get hit by a car and he’d shrug his shoulders.” Not sure if I want this kid selling me a phone.
